Top Deck - Haslar Lightship

This is the first meeting of the season where we will get a chance to discuss the season’s events, enjoy a hot buffet in the Lightship and take part in a fun quiz.

Please radio Haslar Marina on Channel 80 when you arrive to check where to moor as the visitor’s area is busy with several Rallies and you will most likely be allocated a berth within the marina itself. The visitor’s rate is £3.00 per metre.

We will meet in the Lightship from 1730 onwards for drinks and a chat about the season’s events, followed by food at 1900, then a quiz. The hot buffet will be a choice of salmon in a prawn & white wine sauce or sweet & sour chicken with either rice or potatoes and roasted vegetables. Dessert is profiteroles or french apple tart.

If anyone would like to visit the Submarine Museum, Historic Dockyard or Gunwharf Quays, they are all within 15 minutes of Haslar.

We were glad to have several new members attending and it was good to hear everyone chatting away and enjoying the evening. The ‘Bene Bashers’ won the twenty pound quiz prize with the ‘Mashed Potatoes’ getting three pounds fifty for coming fourth of four large and noisy teams. The nautical round gained everyone the least points – that’s a worry!

With the new members keen to join in our next event and a few suggestions for things we could do, such as a trip to Yarmouth and a winter social, the season was kicked off in good spirits.
