Just One More Day!

Getting excited now and lots to do today, so just a quick last UK post with some photos for Rob to see.  It is still really hot and sunny here, quite amazing for April but very welcome.  Long may it continue.

Not The Best Visibility

On Monday I was in Haslar, some 11 years since we kept our first boat there.  It was good to catch up with friends and my thanks go to Caroline and Robert for letting me stay in their flat once again.

Yesterday I spent the day with my lovely niece, shopping of course.  A successful day with lots of purchases, breakfast, coffee, lunch and dinner out and such a joy to spend time together.

The fog horns had been blasting away overnight and at 0830 you still couldn’t see from the Gosport side of Portsmouth Harbour to the other.  Only Spinnaker Tower’s top was visible but by the time I took a photo. the fog had started to lift.  We haven’t seen fog in years, so it was a timely reminder of how cold and silent everywhere becomes as we are bound to encounter fog in Maine next year.

My Cousin's Dog 'Dixie'

Next I’m checking in online and hope BA haven’t moved my flight by a few weeks just for the fun of it, like they did to my son and niece last April.  Never did get an explanation for that.

So, back to the Caribbean tomorrow with a few goodies in the hold and our crew in Premium whilst I’m in Economy.  Can’t be right!  Last time he arrived with a security escort into Grenada as he didn’t know the exact bay ‘Beyzano’ was anchored in but this time I’m going to vouch for him so it should be easy enough.

I have really enjoyed seeing everyone here and borrowing their pets to take out.  Our 17 year old cat, Elvis, who lives with Kym is feeling his age but is still adorable.

When I’m on the boat I quickly get into that lifestyle and can’t bear the thought of not living on her but it doesn’t actually take that long to settle back into UK life, appreciate all the good points and coming back doesn’t seem such a big issue.   Some friends we met in 2011 have decided to spend a lot more time here and explained their reasoning very honestly on their blog.  The cruising life is not for everyone and if all you seem to encounter are problems, costs and more problems, it probably doesn’t seem quite as attractive.
