Leaving Today

Quick last post before we leave Povoa de Varzim exactly a month after we arrived! It is my dad’s birthday too – Happy Birthday Dad xx

The swell yesterday was 3.8 metres so we watched the Grand Prix in the Yacht Club and wandered out to see the waves crashing over the breakwater from time to time. Bit more exciting than the racing anyway. The evening BBQ was very sociable, followed by a screening of the latest Star Trek film at William and Helen’s accompanied by popcorn. Up early-ish today to fill the water tanks and get the boat prepared for sea. Next a walk to town for some euros and bread and we will be ready to leave about 1400.

Tomorrow and Wednesday the swell increases again but the forecast for Thursday through to Sunday looks better, so we hope to use those few days to get to Cascais or Sines where we will start our journey to Madeira.

Unlikely to be able to connect to the internet for a while but we now have our Satellite Phone working in case we need to call Falmouth Coastguard!
